Captain Marvel isn't the BEST MCU movie (That honor goes to Infinity War ) but I also enjoyed myself. With that said, I did have one slight problem that, coming from a "half-white male", might sound problematic so I'll need you to hang on and stick with me, OK? They tried WAY too hard in the "girl power" department. By that I mean there were a whole bunch of scenes of guys telling Carol/Captain Marvel/Vers that she should give up because she's a girl and she defiantly stands up and says "NO!" This would've been OK once but several times throughout the movie? And having a guy tell her "you should smile" was like "OK, we get it, she's a woman, guys are assholes". I admit men are assholes but there are other ways to show that our lead character is confidant and a bad ass. Like take Ripley from Alien . No one ever told her "hey just smile" or "You should stay behind while us MEN fight this alien...

A reoccurring thing that pops up on Facebook and Twitter are these movie challenges. Someone makes a list of types of movies to watch, sometimes with a theme, sometimes just random. But they're almost always only 30 days long. I say if you're going to do something, go all in or don't go shit at all!! Or something... It's the end of another year and around this time, people rank things. Also people like to talk about how much 2018 sucked. And it was a pretty shitty year. Not only globally, but for me personally. Between me spending a week in a hospital cause I blew out my small intestine and finding out I have a super mutant spleen, losing my job, finding a job I actually liked, finding out I can't stay full time at the job I like and going back to the job I hated (but for more money!), and having a few people who were close to me passing away , yeah this year can go fuck itself. But there were some good things that happened this year. First off (in no particular order), I published my second book (which you can totally still buy right now ), which was a feat unto itself cause I was writing it when all of the terrible stuff in the first paragraph was happening to me. I'm also taking a break from the Time In My Hand series to write a full novel, which is a challenge for me but...

I just found out that a very good friend of mine, named Rachael, just passed away. I met Rachael years ago on the now almost defunct website LiveJournal, when we bonded over episodes of Mystery Science Theater 3000. Rachael loved movies both good and bad. She had a fantastic sense of humor that was unique to her and she was a very caring person. She especially loved cats and ferrets. And Sasquatch. Every year, around Christmas, she organized a gift exchange that involved giving people something with Sasquatch on it. I was tempted to give in and do it but I never did and I may never get the chance to again. Rachael was, from what I saw, an excellent cook. She and her husband Tom rarely went out to eat and each day she'd painstakingly plan a meal and cook it. She'd take pictures of them and every damn thing she made look delicious. I said to her "I swear one day I'm gonna come over and try your cooking! It looks so damn awesome!" and she welcomed me to do so...

Back in, I wanna say, 2014, I made a video with the help of some friends. The idea came to me as I was binge watching "Breaking Bad" in preparation for the final episode. The idea was take "Breaking Bad" and make it about bootleg movies. It took almost a year from conception to finished product but it was worth it. During that time I got a new camera and new editing software. I uploaded it back then and had no problems. Flash forward a year later and I start the CineGamer YouTube channel. Since I wanted to make that my main focus, I switched my video "Burning Bad" over to that. And almost immediately I got a copyright strike and the video had to be taken down. Also, my channel got suspended and I couldn't upload certain videos or do certain things. I disputed this and eventually I won, with my suspension coming to an early end. 15 years ago last week (yeah, I'm a bit late to the game, my personal life, uh, got in the way, so to speak) the movie Freddy vs Jason came to theaters. And I wanted to give it some love. Currently on Rotten Tomatoes , a site I'm not a fan of anyway because it scares and confuses me, it sits at 41% from "critics" and 50% from "fans". Whereas on IMDb , it's got a 5.8 out of 10. People don't seem to like this movie and I'm not sure why. Lemme explain why, for me personally anyway, this movie was a big deal when it finally came out. We need to go back in time to 1991. Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare was released and everyone involved said this is totally the last Freddy movie, we swear, ignore us crossing our fingers behind our backs. Introductions. Introductions are there to get you, the viewer/reader, prepared for the thing you're about to watch/read. Take this introduction for example. You're reading this now, and you're thinking "this is a terrible introduction but why is he talking about introductions? And how many times can he use the word 'introduction'?" I was feeling nostalgic and went down a rabbit hole of introductions to various things from my childhood.
